In CMMi we talk about a mature process as being documented, controlled, linked to strategic processes, business aligned and proactively and continuously improved with the nirvana being an optimized process.

In keeping with the theme of the itSMF NZ 2009 Conference (COOKING WITH ITSM; Cost-effective recipes for success) Ralph Gray used the analogy of a restaurant managing its costs and pricing its services, and explored the often-misunderstood process of Financial Management.
This not a process that you can leave to your accountants – each IT manager has a responsibility to manage their own costs.

• Interfacing with the Finance Branch
• Charge out – benefits and methods
This session was specifically aimed at internal service providers and drew on Ralph’s practical experience in managing large budgets in an IT organisation with a charge-out policy.
